To the ends ofthe earth for love.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.Matthew 24:14
Christian population + evangelical presence

This atlas is a research snapshot, not a live measure of the completion of the Great Commission. No single number measures discipleship, church health, or whether an individual has heard the gospel.

Christian population

Joshua Project’s Christian adherent estimate includes people identifying with Christian traditions. It differs from its evangelical estimate and is not a count of active disciples.

Today’s map colours

Today’s red–blue–green scale is an illustrative combined index of Christian and evangelical population shares, using fixed anchors. At least 50% Christian population with 2–5% evangelical population sits at neutral blue. Higher evangelical shares move toward green, reaching the strongest green at 15% when Christian share is at least 50%; lower shares move toward red.

Equation: S = 0.5 × clamp(C / 50) × clamp(E / 2) + 0.5 × clamp((E − 5) / 10), where C and E are population percentages and clamp limits each factor to 0–1. Red shades distinguish small Christian population shares directly: the darkest red is at 0%, with a visibly lighter red at 3% and a gradual transition through 12%. Countries with an unavailable evangelical share are shown in red as a display assumption; their numeric figure remains Unknown, and red does not establish a measured 0%. Places without a measured country profile appear gray; dark gray marks areas without a classified country-level resident community. Other missing inputs also appear gray. This index is not an official Joshua Project scale and does not measure gospel access, individual belief or church health.

Communities with little Christian presence

Country profiles separately show Joshua Project’s unreached people groups: at most 2% evangelical and at most 5% Christian population. The share of people groups is different from the share of people living in those groups, and neither establishes whether an individual has heard the gospel. These figures do not directly determine Today’s map colours. Country averages can conceal substantial differences.

Bible translation

The country language lists show Scripture availability for primary languages associated with Joshua Project’s people-group records. They do not include every language spoken in a country. Availability does not establish comprehension, literacy, distribution, or engagement. Language statuses may differ by dialect or translation edition.

Sources & dates

Joshua Project country pages: retrieved September 29, 2026. Underlying estimates have different reference years; retrieval date is not a census date. Individual profiles link to the original country page. Missing numeric values remain unavailable. Supplemental country summaries for France, Norway, Taiwan, and Kosovo were checked September 30, 2026. Map estimates are labeled separately from source figures.

Global Scripture totals use Wycliffe UK’s September 2026 statistics, based on ProgressBible. Global figures and country language tables use different scopes and should not be added together. Worldwide people figures have their own Sources link with dates and definitions.

Pray combines a short country context with three editorial prayer suggestions. Its Sources control shows each report’s publisher and date; country background remains available below. Recent reporting was expanded and checked October 4, 2026. Accounts may describe one denomination or a local congregation, so their scope is stated in the summary. Where dated reporting is unavailable, guidance draws on the country background and Scripture information. Reporting dates, historical background and demographic snapshots should be read separately.
